I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ANIMATED!!!!!!! I animated a ball getting popped by a spike. The way I got there was horrible though. Harmony (the animation software we use) decided to just quit on me. I lost everything. So, I had to re do it. From scratch. Yay me. And so I did the thing and produced the lovely video linked in this post (2D Ball Animation). I learned my lesson, and saved every 30 minutes or so and saved again right before I exported.
Then, I went to help a classmate on their project. I went onto the passthrough we use for class. When I opened the Harmony file....EVERYTHING I HAD SAVED WAS GONE! Do you know what did save!? The fluffin' file that crashed in the first place!!!! Just instant rage. Checked my flash drive. Same fluffin' problem.
My Prof allows us to edit any project after we have the class critique and picks it up the class after. So, I have this glorious animation, and no way to edit it to make it better. Its technically pretty sound, BUT WHAT IF I WANNA MAKE IT LOOK PRETTY?! Now I am fluffin' screwed. Oh well. You live and you learn. Either way, its content for the channel that has nothing on it.
Rant is over. Thanks for reading.

The Start of the Journey
Well, first thing is first...
Hello all who probably aren't reading quite yet!
I am Skylar. I go to USF; my major is Studio Arts focusing in Animation. Basically, that means I wanna make films and cartoons and stuff. I wanted to be an animator probably since I was little, I just didn't know it. I got into animation because of Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. It is my favorite movie. I love stop motion animation... but I also love the feel of 2D animation.
Currently, I help with thumbnails on the youtube channel The Kota (sorry, not sorry for the shameless promo----> The Kota). I have had a few ideas for animation shorts on his channel, as well as some for my own channel. I have done the new logo for his channel, as well as helped out filming and various art on the channel. I made one stop motion, which is on my channel (Midnight Skies).
So, aside from the fact that this blog is a grade, I think it is a great opportunity to document my work and journey through learning to become an animator. It will be a great portfolio, especially since I've been meaning to make a website for my art since forever.
Thanks!
Skylar
